Why I Hate 37signals’ new book Rework

by Tim M on April 7, 2010

I hate Rework. …About as much as I hate 3 foot of powder in the Canadian Rockies. This book is THE BEST BUSINESS BOOK I HAVE READ. Actually I am wrong. Linchpin and Rework are neck and neck. Here’s why you need to read this book. It’s AWESOME. It will change how you view your […]

Cool tools and design tips

by Tim M on August 13, 2009

o, as I start designing my different sites, I have been naturally drawn into the intricacies of design, UI/UX usability and so on (all of which I suck at – hey, I’m not a designer, I’m an ideas man). UI/UX design and asthetics have been at the top of my list for drawing people in to my various stories.

Like some sort of web-weaving ye olde story teller.

Anyway, by far and away my favourite site is Smashing Mag and boy have they had some smashing stuff lately, with Web Designer Wall throwing down as well. Checkit below. Boy, do I love me some Smashing Mag.

Cool tools

I’m all about productivity, cool tools and good design (I fail on that one). So here are some I found from Smashing Magazine and 90% of Everything

Alright, so the main man in the Blogosphere, Darren Rowse of problogger.net, recently ran a pretty kick arse 31 Days to a Better Blog (31dbb) program for free.

He had some amazing content, there were forums, and some really good tips and success stories. Because I am ultra, ultra busy (like, totally ultra – so ultra your brain might explode if you knew), I did not have time to do the lessons every day, so I bought the workbook. It’s US19.95 so very good value.

How to Migrate from Blogspot to WordPress

by Tim M on June 15, 2009

However, many people have built up quite a large number of posts on Blogspot and there’s no way (that I know of) to mass migrate to Wordpress. So, it needs to be done manually. Which is highly lame.

Cool tools: SUPER productivity

by Tim M on May 22, 2009

I’m really, really bad at focusing, except when I really, really, need to. And at that point I get VERY focused. It gets gnarly.

When you’re working full time, have a kick-arse girlfriend, are running a sustainable snowboarding company, and getting a new site/venture off the ground, as well as running photos, snowboarding, surfing, travelling and playing with your family, as well as smashing out bike races – it can get hard to focus once you add email and a heap of Google Reader things to read.

So, I’m always on the lookout for things that will focus me, or make me much more productive.
