Lots of traffic lately! So I am guessing you might be coming here from Mashable for the Beginner's Guide to Integrating Facebook and Wordpress. If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting, I hope something here rocks your world.
The above trailer is compelling viewing (it may be the oh-so-tense trailer music though) and it does gel with where I stand personally on food.
I like to call myself a Hypocrititarian. That is, I abhorr eating land meat, but boy do I love me some ocean dwelling flesh.
Allow me to explain this seeming hypocrisy.
Most people are oblivious to the production chain and processes used to produce their meat (and food in general, but I’m going to concentrate on meat, see here, here and here to see why. I don’t want to get into the gory details but basically my position can be summarised thus: anything I wouldn’t be prepared to catch and kill and dress myself means it doesn’t hit my plate. That means cows, chicken, (delicious) lamb, pigs, etc. Fish however, I strangely don’t have a problem with. Additionally, I have come to the conclusion (especially after seeing such reports as evidenced above) that land based mass animal farming is bad for the environment.
The very idea of rolling into your local supermarket and just dialling in a tasty looking, nicely packaged piece of pink something doesn’t sit at all well with me.
Anyway, seeing movies like the above, as well as the ones below, they crystallise my beliefs. We’re being taken for a ride. Animals are being taken for a ride. All because of our own refusal to feel, to see, what animals really are – fellow Earthlings.
The three movies below are moving, and incredibly saddening. We’re treating animals so poorly (and don’t give me crap about food chain and so on, it’s a stupid, rubbish argument). If you don’t start asking questions after seeing all 4 of these trailers, I’d be very surprised.
The movie below is frankly moving.
The below video is very close to my heart.
